Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Trust had conducted a programme on Depression by Mr. Kurshith BegamMSW from Fathima Trust on 6.07.2015. She emphasized on the reasons for the person to undergo depression. Fifty women participated in the programme.The participants welcomed the programme and participated well by clarifying many doubts.

Under Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary sponsor Sr.Lourdu , Professor, Social Work, Department, Stella Maries College gave an ORIENTATION TALK for the women on new entrepreneurship. Thirty women from various Women Self Help group participated in the programme. This was to encourage the women to take up new businesses and avail the financial assistance provided by the Central Government. This was held on 17th August 2015.

DRIVING CLASSES FOR THE SELP HELP WOMEN:slect and send women from the Selp help group who are interested in learning car driving. The women who go there and learn the car driving they will be provided job opportunities and license.15 women are learning the driving.

Health

World “NO” Tobacco day was organized in Mylapore area by the ARPANAM TRUST in Association with the Can Stop organization on 30th May 2015. Through this programme the people were educated on the evils of consumption of Tobacco products.This was done through Street theater , Posters , Cultural programme and Rally.

The Community based Health and hygiene promotion activities are conducted in Giriappa Road on1.07.2015.The Day’s programme consisted of Rally and competitions and evening cultural programmes. The Rally was inaugurated by the Area councilor Mr. Chinnaiyan. Many children and women actively participated in it. Prizes were distributed to the winners of various competitions.

World Yoga day was observed on 21st July 2015. Women self Group members participated in the yoga programme. The input was given by the trainees from ISHA foundation Mrs. Saraswathi and Mrs. priya. They explained the benefits of Yoga method to lead a healthy harmonious life. Mrs. Catherine, spoke about the healthy food habits. 30 women participated in it and they found it very useful.

Society helped the Area Health Nurse to administer the Polio drops and iron tablets for the babies and Young Adolescent girls respectively.

Environment

Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary from its inception has launched eco friendly programs, under CLEAN AND GREEN projects among the students in various schools. Conservation of natural resources is emphasized in meetings organized to introduce activities of ChurchPark. Tree planting programs are conducted and are being continued.

Women from the self-help groups along with the Children’s parliament conducted a rally on 10.8.2015 at 4.Pm near Rajarathinam Stadium at Egmore, to close down the TASMAC shops. The initiative and the execution of the whole programme were taken by the women SHGs and the children Parliaments. The raised their voice against this because they are the victims of such evil. Women and children go through mental problem, financial constrain, Physical and Psychological problem and hence they were ready to fight against it. The collective efforts of the affected people hope to bring positive results.
